根室について About Nemuro
北海道、根室は、カニやウニ、鮭やさんまに始まる、魚介類が非常に有名な土地です。ここ根室には、新鮮な魚介類を楽しむことの出来るレストランや居酒屋がたくさんありますが、やはりカニが北海道外の方々にも愛されている魚介類なのではないでしょうか。
Nemuro in Hokkaido is very famous for seafood such as crabs, sea urchins, salmons, sauries. We have lots of restaurants or bars where we can enjoy such fresh seafoods… and I think many people outside Hokkaido love crabs, especially.
今週の議題が「SEAFOOD (魚介類) 」だったということもあり、今回私が調べたのは根室の魚介類がいかに根室の財政に役立っているかについてです。実は少しだけ、昨年の根室のふるさと納税の金額が「スゴイこと」になったというのは耳にしていたので、今回これを機に、ちゃんと腰を据えて調べてみようかな、という気持ちになったのです。
Since the topic for the talk this week was “SEAFOOD (ぎょかいるい)”, I tried to find out information regarding Nemuro’s seafood in detail. I actually knew a little bit about how the amount of Nemuro’s hometown tax paid was “great”, so I felt like searching for the actual data this time.
気になる2015年度のふるさと納税の結果は Result of Hometown Tax for FY2015
そして気になる結果ですが、なんと2015年度の根室のふるさと納税の金額は、
And the result in FY2015 for the hometown tax in Nemuro was…
約12億9千万円、昨年からの成長具合は96倍以上！！
1,290 million yen !! 96times bigger than the last year!!
という結果だったのです。これがどこかの会社の一事業であればもうニヤニヤが止まらないですね。
Oh my god. If it were a business of a company, the workers in that company wouldn’t stop smiling and having a party, I bet.
なぜこれほど大成功したのか Why this much success?
さて、ここで気になるのは、なぜこれほどまでにふるさと納税の金額が跳ね上がったのか、ということです。端的に言えば、「返礼品に魚介類などの特産品を取り入れた」ということのようです。2014年度まではしおりとお礼の手紙だったとか。まあ人間ですからね、やはり納税した代わりにカニがもらえる、ということになればそれはもう納税したくもなります…！（ – 毎日新聞 ふるさと納税：カニ返礼で寄付7億円 北海道・根室 – より)
And what we need to know is “why this much success was made”. In short, that’s because Nemuro decided to give seafood including crabs back as a gift for those who pay the hometown tax. Until FY2014, the gift was bookmarks and thanks-letters. Well, we are humans, we understand how proactively we want to pay taxes if we get crabs in return, right?
本日2016年6月1日から品目が3倍に！ The number of Items you can choose from got 3 times bigger since June 1st, 2016..TODAY!
そしてこのふるさと納税の品目が、なんと本日から３倍になるようです! 根室のふるさと納税返礼品はこれまでは100品目から、納税金額によって1品から数品を返礼品として選ぶことができたのですが、本日2016年6月1日からなんと300品目から選ぶことができるようになります! もうリストを見るだけでヨダレが出ちゃいますね！気になる方はこちらのふるさと納税サイト様よりご確認下さい！
The number of items on the list of gifts got three times bigger than ever! In Nemuro’s gift list, we could pick one or more items as a gift for our tax payment from 100 items, and from today, June 1st, 2016, the number of items becomes 300. If you go through the list and look at the items you can pick from, your mouth will be filled with saliva. Check out the Hometown Tax Payment Website here!

As a local guy living in Nemuro, I hereby proudly say that seafood in Nemuro is GREAT. I’d be so happy if people outside Nemuro get interested in my hometown even through these gifts for hometown tax payment.
